Brewing Process
1. Preparation
- Grind the Coffee: Use a medium-fine grind, similar to table salt.
- Boil Water: Heat your water to the desired temperature.
- Assemble the AeroPress: Place a paper filter in the filter cap and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper taste and to preheat the device.
2. The Inverted Method (Optional)
- Many users prefer the inverted method, where you start with the AeroPress upside down (plunger on the bottom, chamber on top).
- Insert the plunger about 1 cm into the chamber and stand the AeroPress on the plunger.
3. Add Coffee Grounds
- Add your ground coffee to the AeroPress chamber. Use a funnel if necessary to avoid spills.
4. Add Water
- Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds, filling up to the desired level (usually to the top of the AeroPress).
- Start your timer once you begin pouring the water.
5. Stir the Coffee
- Stir the coffee and water mixture for about 10-20 seconds to ensure all grounds are saturated.
6. Steep
- Let the coffee steep for about 1-2 minutes. The exact time can vary based on your preference.
7. Attach Filter Cap
- Carefully attach the filter cap (with the rinsed paper filter) to the AeroPress chamber.
8. Flip and Press
- If using the inverted method, carefully flip the AeroPress onto your mug or carafe.
- Press down gently and steadily on the plunger. The entire pressing process should take about 20-30 seconds.
9. Serve
- Once you’ve pressed all the water through, your coffee is ready to drink. You can dilute it with hot water if it’s too strong, or enjoy it as is.
10. Clean Up
- Remove the filter cap and push the plunger to eject the coffee grounds and filter into the trash or compost.
- Rinse the AeroPress parts with water and let them dry.
